Itinerary:
Day 1
Drive to Gyangtse, en route with a stop at Kampala pass for great views of Yamdrok lake, arrival in Gyangtse ( touring Palchor Chode monastery including the Kumbum ), over night hotel
Guantse is one of the old Cities in Tibet. A long time ago at the turn of the former century Francis Younghusband fought in a strange war in order to keep the Russians out of Tibet.
The Kumbum is a wonder of Buddhist architecture and the thousands of murals have survived the cultural revolution which is even a bigger wonder.
Day 2
Touring Palchor Chode monastery including the Kumbum ), you could also visit the local ancient Gyangtse fort, there is an interesting nunnery as well, option to visit, we will walk to visit the Pala manor, free afternoon to explore the traditional town on your own, hotel stay
Day 3
Drive to Shigatse, en route, we could take a detour to Shalu monastery it`s history dates back to 11th century, it has beautiful ancient murals, we will stop at local farm-lands to visit locals and explore how locals live their daily life, working on their farm-lands, arrival in Shigatse, touring Tashi Lunpo monastery and the local traditional market, over night hotel in Shigatse
Day 4
Drive to Sakya, Sakya monastery and the surrounding area, afternoon drive to Old Tingri for a short break there, ( we may have luck with the weather for a view of Everest and Cho O Yu peaks ), over night at Local guest housein NYALAM.
Day 5
Drive to border town with Nepal and cross border, end of the tour ;
On the other side of the friendshipbridge many Taxis and busses are waiting .
Within 2,5 hour you will be by Taxi in Kathnmandu
